What's new with EPM 11.2?

❤ Extended support

First, the announcement that Premier Support for Hyperion 11.1.2.4 has been extended through December, 2021. This replaces Extended Support, therefore no Extended Support will be offered.

🎅 What's new?

With the exciting news of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) 11.2.2 being available, here is whats new in EPM 11.2 (till EPM 11.2.2). This is not an exhaustive list with granular details, but I've tried to cover all the significant areas.
  • The Repository Creation Utility (RCU) is used to create schemas to support Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Java web applications. This is a mandatory step in the configuration process.
  • For the creation of data sources, WebLogic is now also dependent on the RCU.
  • The whole Reporting and Analysis Framework (RAF) stack which includes the RAF agent has been removed and partially implemented into Foundation. For example, Financial Reports are now stored in the Foundation database.
  • The legacy Financial Reporting configure database step still exists as a configuration option. However, Oracle confirmed that this step is no longer required. If it does get configured, it will not be used and the database will stay empty, no harm done.
  • The simplified user interface for Planning has been removed.
  • Financial Reporting no longer supports Essbase as a data source. The suggested alternative is to use Oracle Smart View instead.
  • FR Studio thick client doesn’t exist anymore.
  • HFM Metadata editor doesn’t exist anymore (this feature should be available in the Workspace).
  • Adobe Flash is no more needed for Calculation Manager.
  • Essbase is still the 11.1.2.4 version but has been updated with patches. Essbase is running on 11.1.2.4.033. APS and Essbase Studio is running on version 11.1.2.4.031. Once configured, you can always patch Essbase to the available options (most recent patch is Essbase 11.1.2.4.040).
  • It follows “Out of Place” Migration [Install 11.2 on new hardware with supported OS > Use LCM from version 11.1.2.4 to migrate applications(artifacts) to 11.2 version].
  • Please note: Only LCM's from 11.1.2.4 version is supported to migrate to 11.2 version.
  • It is important to understand that your current version of EPM should be on 11.1.2.4.x to be able to upgrade to 11.2. If your system is not on 11.1.2.4.X, you need to perform an “In-Place” upgrade to 11.1.2.4.x first.
  • EPM Architect (EPMA) will not be available as a foundation component in EPM 11.2 and beyond.
  • For existing deployments of EPM Architect: 
    • Convert to 'classic' applications before upgrading.
    • Oracle Data Relationship Management will be offered under a restricted use license to facilitate Oracle Hyperion EPM (on premises only) dimension maintenance.
  • DRM as a feature is not currently a complete replacement for EPMA. However, a migration utility together with a white paper has been provided to assist in the migration from EPMA to DRM.
  • DRM Analytics has been removed.
  • Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Release 11.2.2 adds support for Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 7 and RedHat Linux Release 7, 64-bit only.
  • For Internet Explorer browser users, Microsoft recommends using the new Microsoft Edge as your default browser. With this guidance in mind, EPM System no longer supports Internet Explorer starting with Release 11.2.2.0.000. However, Chrome works without any issues.

Multi-Column numeric data load in FDMEE 11.2.2

In my last blog , I showed how to load multi period data - but in a single numeric column. In this blog, I will cover loading a multi-column numeric data file.
